Effect of Curing Time on Lime-Stabilized Sandy Soil against Internal Erosion

چکیده

One of the key challenges geotechnical engineers face is failure embankments due to internal soil erosion. Therefore, stabilization against erosion becomes necessary prevent embankment failure. This paper aims use lime stabilize sandy Two types (poorly graded and well-graded) were treated with different percentages (based on dry weight soil) curing times (1 day, 2 days, 7 days). For poorly soil, used from 0.0% 6.0% an increment 1% by soil. While for well-graded 0.0%, 1.0%, 2.0%, 3.0% The hole test (HET) was utilized analyze parameters samples. Results proved that effective agent Moreover, optimum erosion, required about 5.0% lime, respectively, a time days. Significant reduction in rate improvement index critical stress observed at stabilization. In addition, results demonstrated increases reduces

Effect of Oil Contamination on Lime Stabilized Soil

This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of spent oil contamination on the strength of lime stabilized soil. Laterite soil was stabilized with lime in percentages of 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8% of the dry weight of soil. Specimens were prepared for UCS and CBR. The specimens for UCS were cured for 7, 14 and 28 days; while the specimens for CBR were cured for 4 days. Contamination of the specime...

effect of curing time on shear strength of cohesive soils stabilized with combination of lime and natural pozzolana

when geotechnical engineers are faced with cohesive clayey soils, the engineering properties of those soils may need to be improved to make them suitable for construction. the aim of this paper is to study the effect of using lime, natural pozzolana or a combination of both on the geotechnical characteristics of two cohesive soils. lime or natural pozzolana were added to these soils at ranges o...

On the modelling of internal soil erosion

Suffusion is the process whereby fine particles are moved locally an transported through a coarse layer. This is a bulk erosion, which corresponds to a source term in the mass balance equations. This bulk erosion is counter intuitive, as erosion is basicaly an interfacial process. We suggest a framework within suffusion in a clayey sand can be viewed as a clay/water interface erosion at the mic...

Effect of Nanoclay on Soil Erosion Control

Wind erosion is a widespread phenomenon in arid region. The purpose of this study was assessed the capacity of nanoclay to control soil erosion in wind tunnel experiment. The nanoclay isolated from soils was dominant in montmorillonite. A sandy soil from the Khara desert, nearly 100 km East of Isfahan (Central Iran) was used. The soils of this area are structurally unstable and sandy texture ma...

Effect of Long-term Lime and Potassium Applications on Quantity-Intensity (Q/I) Relationships in Sandy Soil

The effects of long-term lime and K applications on quantity-intensity (Q/I) relationships were investigated on the Ap and B21t horizons of a Kalmia soil (a fine-loamy over sandy or sandy-skeletal, siliceous thermic (Typic Hapludults) from the Delaware Coastal Plain. The predominant mineral suite of the <2faa clay fraction was mica, vermiculite, and chloritized vermiculite. Soil pH and exchange...
